Sunday, May 7:

Speaker: Tina M Johnson, RN, NTP, CGP Optimal Health Nutritional Therapy

Topic: Your Brain-Your Gut – What’s the Connection?  Tina will be joining us to discuss the connection between our gut health and Alzheimer’s and other brain related issues like Anxiety and Depression, Parkinson's and more.  Alzheimer’s begins at the cellular level 10 – 20 years before symptoms appear.  Learn what you can do now to improve your gut/brain health.

Sunday, June 4:

FARM VISIT DAY: We will be visiting Union Mills Feed in Mulino and taking a tour of the mill!  Union Mills Feed is a family owned business that has been here since 1877 providing the surrounding communities with feed they make at the mill, including feeds for livestock, poultry and horses.  This will be a fun time to see a historic landmark in our community!

No formal classes will be held in July and August…..but a few of us may get together for canning or harvesting poultry.

Speaker: Cathy McQueeney

Topic: Preserve Your Harvest – Learn how to use various methods for preserving your garden or CSA harvest.  We will be discussing some different ways to preserve your food (other than water bath and pressure cooker canning).  Learn which foods dehydrate well, which ones you can preserve in oil and much more.

Food Demo: How to Make Beef Jerky without Sugar

Topic: Sugar – Is It a trick or a treat?  We all have taste buds for “sweet”…..but does that need to include Snickers bars?  Let’s explore what sugar really does to the body.

Topic: Healthy Holidays – Heading into the holidays with a plan!  Learn how to make your family favorite recipes from healthy ingredients. 

Participation: Bring your recipes and we will go over how to change from questionable ingredients to healthy one….and discuss how to eat clean during the holiday season
